Recently, the 3rd Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Technology and Economy Seminar was grandly held in Hangzhou. Shanghai Shenkai Petroleum Instrument Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shenkai”) has won the Gold Wing Award for Technical Excellence in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for its profound technical strength in the field of low-temperature performance testing of aviation fuel. This honor not only recognizes the contributions made by Shenkai in the technical research and industrial application of SAF core testing technology, but also marks a key breakthrough in the field of high-end aviation fuel testing equipment.

The SAF Gold Wing Award was established by the 3rd SAF Technology and Economy Seminar to commend enterprises that have showed outstanding performance in SAF technology innovation and engineering demonstration fields. This year’s selection focuses on two dimensions: “technical excellence and engineering demonstration”. After joint evaluation by industry experts, SAF user representatives, and third-party organizations, benchmark enterprises with leading technology and broad market application prospects were ultimately selected.
Shenkai has been deeply involved in the field of petroleum instrument manufacturing for more than 30 years, and has always taken technological innovation and quality improvement as the core of development. In the SAF field, Shenkai focuses on the R&D and production of low-temperature performance testing instruments for aviation fuels. Its core products, the automatic freezing point testing instrument for aviation fuel and the fully-automatic low-temperature kinematic viscosity testing instrument, are tailor-made for SAF low-temperature performance testing. They are designed in strict accordance with the relevant international and domestic standards such as ASTM, ISO, GB, etc. to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of testing results. Its application scope covers multiple aspects of SAF production, quality control, storage and transportation, providing technical support for the development of the SAF industry.

Shenkai has always upheld the path of domestic substitution. In 2024, the Sinopec imported equipment domestic transformation project that Shenkai participated successfully passed the acceptance. This achievement has not only demonstrated Shenkai’s technical strength in the field of petroleum instruments, but also promoted the domestic substitution process of petroleum instruments. In the field of SAF testing, Shenkai has launched a series of low-temperature performance testing instruments for aviation fuel to promote the domestic substitution of SAF core testing technology by relying on its technological accumulation in high-precision temperature control, fast-deep cooling, and automatic control.
As the core path for the global aviation industry to achieve the net-zero carbon target by 2050, SAF has significant environmental advantages. Compared with traditional aviation fuel, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 80%. As a member unit of ASTM, Shenkai has actively participated in the formulation of domestic oil analysis standards and continuously conducted forward-looking research on SAF testing technology. At present, Shenkai’s related products have been successfully applied in multiple SAF production, use, and testing units, including CNAF Eastern China Branch, Sinopec Shijiazhuang Refining & Chemical Company, Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Company, Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Co., Ltd., etc. to promote the low-carbon transformation of the aviation industry through practical applications.
At this seminar, Shenkai’s products have received widespread attention. Many experts, scholars, and representatives of production enterprises in the SAF field showed strong interest in the products and made in-depth exchanges and discussions with Shenkai representatives. At the same time, they put forward valuable advice on Shenkai’s development in SAF testing technology, and hoped to work together with Shenkai to promote the development of the SAF industry.
